Wychwood Barns
As project engineer for a previous employer on this LEEDS building, I am thankful for having had the opportunity to be a collaborator on this project's team. The challenges of an abandoned streetcar barn restoration were manifold, early 1920's concrete reinforced with twisted square bars, roof framing severely water damaged, historic clay tile infill walls and other construction practices typical of a bygone Toronto were ravaged by time and abandonment. Our team leader, Architect Joe Lobko, did his best to craft this multi-use facility and re-use the fabric of this restored complex in a creative and dynamic manner. Our charge was to make art of this salvage as the bones of this building are its architecture.
